Link straight to the March tab
Open March, copy the URL containing gid=123456789, and paste that in your runbook so new hires land on the correct tab.
URL hacks are extra parameters you add to a Google Sheets link to control what opens: a specific tab, a highlighted range, a prefilled form, or an export format. They save clicks when you embed links in docs, SOPs, or buttons. They do not bypass sharing: viewers still need access to the file.
Use URL tricks in team wikis, email templates, and dashboards that link to the exact cell or gid tab people should edit, or to download CSV snapshots on a schedule you document.
Skip obscure URL parameters as security through obscurity. Anyone with file access can still explore. For API integrations, use the Sheets API instead of export URLs.
Copy the normal share link from the browser address bar after opening the right tab.
{:"Append hash or query fragments Google documents"=>nil}
For Google Forms tied to sheets, use prefilled URLs with entry IDs so teammates open a partially filled form.
Test in incognito with the same role your audience has (viewer vs editor).
Shorten or wrap links in human text in docs; raw URLs with long gid values are easy to break when edited.
Update links when you duplicate a file because gid values and spreadsheet ids change in the copy.
Open March, copy the URL containing gid=123456789, and paste that in your runbook so new hires land on the correct tab.
Forms menu > Get prefilled link with Product and Severity set; share that URL in Slack for consistent intake.
Construct an export?format=csv URL for a single tab when you need a quick download script documented for finance.
Build this without starting from a blank cell
