Add Pop Up Calendar Date To Cell

0:00 Here's how to create a popup calendar, date picker adder. Uh, we want to add a date here for each client that we land. We do like 12, 12, 20, 27, and we can type those all in and we can, that's fine, but a little bit better, A little bit more magic, a little bit more interesting is to add a little popup calendar. We're gonna go right click. And scroll down to view more cell actions and go to data validation . The state of validation is gonna open up on the right side for dropdowns there. That is data validation , so you might see some data validation already. We're gonna add a rule. We're gonna make sure that this range is actually the range we want to apply to, which is, right now it just says C two, but we can change that to C two colon c.

0:48 And now it will apply to the entire column , not the header . And the criteria we don't want is dropdown and we don't want that. We just want is valid date. Now is valid. Date is gonna have some other options like show, help, text, and it can say enter, validate. You can say, please if you wanna add a little bit extra. And also we have the option of if the data isn't valid. Now, a lot of the times you might be really wanting to say, reject the input, but I think actually reject the input forces someone to figure it out right away. Whereas if you just show a warning if somebody puts something different here, copies paste something, it'll have a little red. Mark in the top right and it'll allow you to fix it later so that you

1:35 can get your work done as you wish. But I understand if you would put, reject the input and you can click done and it doesn't look like much has happened. But if I double click on the sell, I get a picker. If I start typing in, I don't see it 2023, but as soon as I double click. That date that I typed is actually already in there and in the picker. See? So I can click today and it'll change to today. I can double click. I can go back a month, be like, oh yeah, I did that in March. I can double click. You can say, oh, I'm gonna do that April 20th, May 20th. Um, and this is a wonderful way to use dates inside of Google Sheets and inside your cell. I hope you enjoyed this. I.
